Peter Douglas earned a BS in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master's degree from Northwestern University's J. L. Kellogg School of Management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and is a Licensed Contractor in 21 states. He is also a member of the Young President's Organization / Maumee Valley Chapter and has served the organization in many leadership roles.

Peter joined The Douglas Company in Toledo, Ohio in March of 1981. He ran the company's Orlando, Florida division for five years. He returned to Toledo in 1990, became President of The Douglas Company in 1991 and its sole stockholder in 2000.
