As recently as two years ago, I had written a letter of recommendation expounding the virtues of The Douglas Company. Not only did they meet and exceed my highest expectations with my most recent project, Brunson Hill, but they did so in a fashion that rarely found in today’s General Contractors.

Brunson Hill was a scattered site, single family affordable housing project in the city of Benton Harbor, Michigan. As you can imagine, working in Benton Harbor came with its own unique set of challenges. It is a city that has seen extremely limited development for a number of years, and this project had the spotlight on it from inception.

I employed The Douglas Company to control every aspect of this project. They stayed within the budget and finished two months ahead of schedule. They fulfilled my desire to use local and minority subcontractors whenever they could, and in certain instances helped some of those same subcontractors achieve new levels of productivity.

The Douglas Company skillfully maneuvered through all forms of government regulation, allowing for lease of the homes as they were completed. They worked exceptionally hard on my behalf to ensure that concerns were corrected before they affected the outcome of the Brunson Hill project.
