In order to optimize utilization of the client’s available land, the Grand Palms Assisted Living building was designed to be built immediately adjacent to an existing wetlands conservation area, so the building was positioned in the best way possible to minimize any negative impact into this area. This resulted in limited access for construction equipment to a significant portion of the exterior of the building. The project team overcame this challenge through close coordination and sequencing of the work by all trades. In spite of this challenge, The Douglas Company still delivered the project ahead of schedule.
