Thurgood Marshall Homes was a continuation of the Hope VI community redevelopment process. The former Stern Brunson schoolhouse was turned into a community center and twenty-one spacious one, two and three-bedroom apartments. Eight new single-family homes with four bedrooms each were also constructed. Three-story townhomes, each with three bedrooms and attached garages were built on Marshall Avenue, and Pipestone Nine, a mixed-use retail/residential complex with nine two-bedroom units on the second floor over retail space completed the development.
