Challenges & Solutions
With a high water table on a low-lying site, completion of building pad was delayed by two months due to excessive and continual rainfall. Efforts by subcontractors working with a diminished and less skilled post-recession workforce were not enough to overcome these initial delays. Protracted Martin County inspection and final approval processes also contributed to delays in the final completion of the project. In spite of these challenges, The Douglas Company was able to ultimately deliver a quality project to VNA and achieved a pre-project goal of less than 1% in change orders.
